Perubahan ini tertera pada surat edaran Sekretaris Jenderal Departemen Keuangan Nomor SE-11IMKI/2010 tentang Perubahan Nomenklatur Departemen Keuangan dan mengacu pada Undang-Undang Nomor 39 Tahun 2008 tentang Kementerian Negara juncto Peraturan Presiden Nomor 47 Tahun 2009 tentang Pembentukan Dan Organisasi Kementerian Negara.
