Most of Garuda's pilots recruited directly from Sekolah Tinggi Penerbangan Indonesia (STPI) or the Indonesia Flight High School. The Company also obtained a pilot from the Bali International Flight Academy (BIFA) and a few other flying school. Based on Garuda Indonesia Annual Report 2011, Cockpit crew productivity was recorded at 65 hours and 57 minutes in 2011, higher than the previous year by 62 hours 10 minutes.

Requirements
- Fresh graduated pilots from accredited flying school
- Indonesian Citizen (WNI) with max age 30 years old
- Holding Indonesian License
- Holding Valid CPL with Instrument Rating
- Having valid First Class Medical Certificate
- Hold an ICAO English Proficiency Certificate min level IV
- Passed screening and Proficiency test conducted by Garuda
